Sandvik establishes global center of excellence for mobile crushing and screening

Sandvik recently announced the creation of a worldwide center of excellence based in the UK and Northern Ireland for its mobile crushing and screening product lines. The establishment of the center will entail the relocation of production of heavy mobile equipment from Sweden. The aim of the move is to provide customers with the most extensive range of mobile crushing and screening equipment currently available.

In spring 2007, Sandvik acquired two British manufacturers of mobile crushing and screening equipment – Extec Screens and Crushers Ltd and Fintec Crushing and Screening Ltd. The acquisition of these two leaders in the design and manufacture of mobile crushing and screening equipment has enabled the addition of mid-size and light equipment to Sandvik’s existing customer offering. Sandvik has chosen to merge its mobile crusher and screening range under a single brand, signified by new model nomenclature and machine colors.

Based on the success of the integration, Sandvik has announced that the logic behind this successful strategy will continue through the creation of a global center of excellence for all its mobile crushing and screening products. The center of excellence will result in the relocation of production of Sandvik heavy mobiles from Sweden to the UK.

The move will create a mobile crushing and screening operation that will offer one of the most extensive product offerings currently available from a single manufacturer. For demolition and recycling customers, Sandvik offers a range of light to medium-sized tracked mobile crushing and screening solutions. Civil engineering and quarry contractors are provided with a full range of tracked and wheel-mounted mobile crushing and screening solutions. For larger quarrying companies, a purpose-built high-specification range of medium to heavy tracked and wheeled mobiles is available. Many of the features that have proved attractive to quarrying customers have also transpired as highly suitable for surface mining operations, where machine build quality, high throughput and precision grading are paramount.

To complement these state-of-the-art ranges of equipment, Sandvik has now begun manufacture of a range of light to medium-wheeled crushing and screening solutions. These machines are assembled in India and designed to meet the needs of Sandvik’s customers in emerging markets. These, and all other mobiles, are supported by Sandvik’s world-leading aftermarket operations.

To announce the integration of these Crushers and Screens into Sandvik’s product range and the relocation of production of heavy mobiles, in addition to the formal opening of the Global Aftermarket Center, a Mobile Crushing and Screening open day has been announced. This has been scheduled for late June of this year and is intended to exhibit both the full product range and the state-of-the-art Swadlincote production facilities.
